Iced Latte with Instant Coffee
To make this quick and easy iced coffee with oat milk, I am using instant coffee and for me, it tastes equally good if not better.
Have you ever tried an iced latte with instant coffee grains available on market? If not then believe me this will be a game-changer for you.
Usually, Iced latte is made with espresso, but not everybody has time to brew fresh coffee nor everyone have expresso machines at home. To make it quick and handy let's use instant coffee grains, that are derived from brewed coffee beans.
Is Oat Milk Good for Lattes?
Oat milk gets frothy and bubbly when blended and that is why it is perfect for lattes. It is the best plant-based alternative for lattes and coffee as it tastes very similar to a milk latte. It has a rich consistency as compared to other plant-based milk with a slightly sweet taste.
Without further ado, lets make some iced latte with oat milk.
Ingredients
To make this oat milk iced coffee you need
Oat Milk: Oat milk is the best dairy-free milk to make a latte because it's thick, creamy, and foamy. You can always substitute it with other dairy-free milk like almond or soy. I will avoid coconut milk for coffee, because of its flavor. You can also use half and half oat and coconut milk. It will be richer and creamier.
Instant Coffee: As I mentioned earlier usually, lattes are made with espresso. However, if you are not a religious coffee person you can ditch the whole process by using instant coffee. But that is my version and you can always use expresso or cold brew coffee.
Sugar: I am using white sugar as it helps to build the froth when we beat it with coffee. but if you want to make it sugar-free feel free to use maple syrup or agave syrup.
Ice: You can use plain ice or coffee cube ice if you are worried about your coffee being watered down as the ice melts.
Toppings: You can make it creamier by adding some shaved dark chocolate or cashew cream on top.
How to Make Oat Milk Iced Latte
- Start by combining instant coffee and sugar in a bowl, pour over 3 to 4 tablespoons of room temperature water, and mix. Use a whisk as it will make it quicker and easier. Beat until the coffee color is changed and sugar and coffee granules are dissolved and form a paste-like consistency. It will take around 2 to 3 minutes.
- Next, add cold water and mix with the hand beater.
- Next, add your Soy Milk and beat more to make it frothy. You can also froth your milk by using a blender, simply run the blender at medium speed for 30 to 40 seconds.
- In the serving, glass add ice cubes and pour over your iced coffee and serve
- Add some dairy-free coffee cream foam to make it rich and some dark chocolate shavings on top. Stir and serve to enjoy.
How to Froth Oat Milk
Oat milk is a bit harder to froth than dairy milk because of its low-fat content. Still, we can get a good amount of froth from oat milk because of its rich consistency. Make sure you buy good rich oat milk suitable for coffee. Oatly and Silk have some great options to try.
To Froth the oat milk we need to create air bubbles in it we can do it with a hand blender, frother, ninja blender, hand whisk, or even we can make these air bubbles by shaking the oat milk in a mason jar for about a minute or so. Make sure you use the oat milk as soon as you create the froth as it will not stay as long as the dairy milk froth stays.
