These truffles make the perfect no-bake vegan dessert and a quick snack during the week. They will be a hit for your parties and also make a gorgeous gift. These Oreo truffles without cream cheese are perfect for those allergic to dairy products. Try these fail-proof vegan Oreo truffles at home with simple ingredients and techniques.

    Ingredients Needed for Oreo Truffles

These Oreo Truffles are made with just three simple ingredients and the best part is there is no cream cheese in these truffles. To make these truffles you need

    • Oreos:  Do not use double stuffed or flavored Oreos, these truffles are made with original Oreos.
    • Coconut Cream: Use full-fat coconut cream as it will give a rich and creamy texture to truffles
    • Vegan Chocolate: Use any kind of vegan chocolate to coat on truffles.

    How to Make Oreo Truffles

    1. Crush Cookies: Start with crushing the Oreo cookies to fine crumbs in a food processor. Pulse until you get the small cookie crumbs texture. Make sure there are no big cookie pieces. Alternatively, you can crush cookies in a zip-lock plastic bag using a rolling pin.
    2. Combine Coconut Cream: Add coconut cream into cookie crumbs and mix well with hand. Add coconut cream gradually as sometimes it has a very high-fat content so you might need a little less than 3 Tbs. Knead well with hand. This step is so important as this will ensure a smooth truffle texture without any cracks and crumbles.
    3. Chill: Leave it to cool down a bit in the refrigerator for about 5 min, this will harden and make the dough less sticky. You can directly make the truffles but it will be tricky and will not form a beautiful looking truffle.
    4. Form the Shape: Next, scoop out the mixture about 1 Tbsp at a time and form it into a 1-inch ball then place on a butter paper-lined cookie sheet.
    5. Chill Again: Place truffles in the refrigerator for 20 minutes or until firm.
    6. Dip in Chocolate: while truffles are in the fridge melt the chocolate according to package instructions. Remove truffles from the fridge and dip in melted chocolate. Use a spoon to pour some chocolate over the top then lift with a fork to allow excess chocolate to run off. Return to the cookie sheet and allow the base chocolate coat to set.
    7. Decorate: Next, decorate truffles with more chocolate drizzle and reserved Oreo crumbs. Refrigerate until firm, about 15 minutes.

    How to Store Oreo Balls

To store these Oreo balls without cream cheese you have to

    • Refrigerate:  Make sure you store the Oreo balls in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Do not leave them on the counter, otherwise, the chocolate will get soft and sticky and truffles will lose their shape. They should be firm and chilled to serve. These Oreo balls will keep well in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks.
    • Freeze: You can also freeze these vegan Oreo truffles for up to 3 months. To serve simply Thaw in the refrigerator overnight. Do not stack truffles while freezing and if you are doing so make sure you put butter paper in between the balls.

    Tips and Tricks

    1. Always use regular Oreos, do not use the Double Stuf Oreos otherwise you will end up in extra extra sweet truffles.
    2. Make sure to use full-fat coconut cream to get the rich and smooth texture.
    3. Make sure cookies are crushed to fine crumbs (no large chunks). This will help in forming the perfect smooth Oreo truffles without any cracks.
    4. Always use your hands to mix and form the perfect consistency dough.
    5. Make sure you chill the truffle dough before shaping the truffles.
    6. Your truffles should be firmed and chilled before dipping into chocolate and chocolate should be smooth and in running consistency.
